It is used to treat a common vaginal infection known as vaginal candidiasis (vaginal thrush) in adolescents more than 16 years and adults. For treatment in women over 60 years, prior consultation with a physician is required.
Fenticonazole Nitrate vaginal capsules are for insertion in the vagina only.
Indications
● For the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis.
Mechanism of Action
FENTICONAZOLE NITRATE is an antifungal agent. It works by interfering with fungal cell membranes by inhibiting the production of a substance called ergosterol. Thereby, prevents the growth of fungi by formation of holes in the cell membrane and helps in treating various fungal infections.
Drug Interaction
● No interaction studies have been performed.
● Fat excipients and oils contained in the vaginal capsules could damage contraceptives made of latex.
● Patients should be advised to use alternative contraceptive methods/precautions while using this product.
● Associations not recommended.
Side Effects
● Mild irritation
● Burning sensation
● Itching of skin
Warning & Precaution
It should be used in pregnancy and breast-feeding periods under the supervision of a physician.
Do not use if you have any of the following symptoms:
● Abnormal or irregular vaginal bleeding
● Blood staining of a vaginal discharge
● Vulval or vaginal sores, ulcers or blisters
● Lower abdominal pain or dysuria
● Adverse effects such as redness, itching or rash associated with the treatment
Dosage
Insert FENTICONAZOLE NITRATE deeply into the vagina at bedtime. If the symptoms persist, use FENTICONAZOLE NITRATE after 3 days. OR as Directed by the Physician
How to Use/Insert FENTICONAZOLE NITRATE Vaginal soft gel:
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
Lie down, bring your knees up and open your legs. Push the vaginal capsule as deep into the vagina as is comfortable.
Always wash your hands with mild soap and warm water afterwards.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry & dark Place. Protected from the direct sunlight.
