Indications:
● Permethrin is used for the treatment scabies
● Permethrin is used to treat lice infection
● To get rid of itch mite
Mechanism:
Permethrin works by acting on the nerve cell membrane to interfere with the sodium channel current that regulates the polarization of the membrane so therefore delayed repolarization and causes the paralysis of the lice and mites.
Side Effects:
The product is possible safe for most adults. There is no disadvantage associated with the product if taken under the recommended usage however itching, redness, numbness of the skin, rashes and tingling of the skin may occur in some patients.
Contraindications:
● Contraindicated in neonates
● Do not apply cuts and wounds
● Children less than 2 months of age
Precautions & Warnings:
● Avoid contact with eyes
● Discontinue the use immediately if adverse symptoms seen
